FOLEY MAIN STREET AND THE CITY OF FOLEY RECEIVE AWARDS

FOLEY MAIN STREET AND THE CITY OF FOLEY RECEIVE AWARDS

Foley Main Street and the City of Foley were recognized for their impactful work in the Downtown Foley District at the thirteenth annual Awards of Excellence Banquet held in Enterprise, Alabama.

The Awards of Excellence committee selected the City of Foley for the Public Space Improvements Award of Excellence for the East Jessamine Street Improvement Project.  A cornerstone of the city’s downtown revitalization. This project represents the successful culmination of a 15-year vision to create a more walkable, connected community. By transforming these streets into a "complete street" design, the city has created a functional corridor that serves as a new gateway to the downtown district.

The project significantly improves connectivity, linking City Hall, the Library, and Riviera Utilities to Heritage Park and the Pedestrian Bridge over Alabama 59. Even with adjustments to support local business owners, the project was delivered within the $524,965 budget.

Foley Main Street was awarded the Business Development Award of Excellence for its Downtown Forward Skills for Success program. The program included three workshops led by Auburn School of Business staff. It provided Downtown Foley small businesses and their employees with personalized small-group assistance, giving them a better chance to succeed, grow, and thrive in a competitive market.

Local programs also selected a Main Street Hero who made an outstanding contribution. These Heroes were recognized at the Toast to Heroes Reception prior to the banquet.  Darrell Russell and his Public Works Team were chosen for their work and the positive impact they made on behalf of Foley Main Street and the entire City of Foley Community.

Alabama State Representative Frances Holk-Jones surprised the group by presenting two House of Representatives Resolutions honoring Darrell Russell and the City of Foley Public Works Dept. for their Hometown Hero Recognition Award, and Foley Main Street for its National Accreditation.
